5 reasons why you should visit Emu Creek Station

What a lovely way to spend the Easter long weekend. Just over 300 kilometers from Carnarvon, Emu Creek Station  is a lovely oasis in the Australian bush.

1. A home away from home

First and foremost my Easter break was so lovely because of the excellent hospitality from my lovely hosts Joyce and Darryl. Always up for a conversation both Joyce and Darryl had plenty of experiences to share and reminisce.

I also can't remember the last time I shared a meal around the dinner table. Each night the table was set and Joyce cooked a scrumptious dinner and dessert. She is an excellent cook. Probably a good thing I was only there a weekend with all my second servings!

The homestead is charming, with simple, clean rooms and a comfortable bed. My room was overlooking the surrounding paddocks with pretty views of the setting sun. A shared bathroom is also available, but I enjoyed the outdoor shower for most of my stay.

2. Stunning Scenery

The beautiful pool just down from the homestead is home to many birds and wildlife. It is quite warm this time of year but the shady banks surrounding the pool are perfect for relaxing. The water was good for paddling and I look forward to seeing the river and pools after a good rain. Darryl was a wealth of information about great swimming spots and things to see. I met a lovely couple from Port Hedland and we took my 4WD down to two great spots suggested by Darryl. Both spots were stunning, even though water was low. We enjoyed sitting in a small pool under a shady gum, it was quite lovely.

3. Peace and Tranquility

While thousands (literally) of people squashed into Coral Bay I was able to enjoy a relaxing time with a novel overlooking the beautiful bush. Stunning sunsets and clear skies made for a great place to recharge the batteries. I would love to visit again and spend longer. Emu Creek Station would be a great spot to base yourself and do some day trips to the surrounding locations. Only 3 hours from Onslow, Coral Bay and Exmouth, you could easily have an early breakfast, spend some time exploring then be home for a lovely home cooked meal.

4. Binoculars and Camera a must!

During my stay I saw plenty of birds and animals. There was everything from emus to spiny lizards. There are kayaks available and it would be an excellent way to get some great pictures of the local wildlife.  Emu Creek Station is a great place for photography enthusiasts. The couple also staying at the homestead had some professional photography gear. They were able to photograph a variety of birdlife and fantastic landscape shots. They also took an amazing time lapse video of the sunrise which was stunning!

5. A destination for all

What I love about Emu Creek Station apart from it's charm, hospitable hosts and picturesque views is the versatility of this location. Along the banks of Emu Creek is shady spots for camping or caravanning. The road leading to the station is well maintained and safe for caravans and campervans. there is also single rooms and larger rooms for groups. Emu Creek Station is a perfect destination for all; including the solo traveller such as myself , couples and family groups.
It would be suited to a quick stop over while travelling up the coast or an extended week of relaxing.

I had a fantastic time at Emu Creek Station- thoroughly recommend!
